On Markets & Investing

Your complimentary copy of 5 investment books [PREMIUM]

As the summer season is at its peak, I thought it would be a good idea to share some books with the premium members of Hidden Value Gems. Reading books shifts your focus from daily market fluctuations and encourages a long-term perspective, which is challenging to maintain if you constantly follow quarterly results and daily market news. This is one of the main reasons I love reading books.

I hope these five free books will help you to find new perspectives and insights.

You may have read some of those books already, but I am pretty sure there will be one or two that you have not read. My personal goal is to finish John Train’s book, The Money Masters.

It is a rare book that is out of print today. It is based on 12 interviews with prominent investors. It is interesting to hear thoughts from ‘young’ Warren Buffett but even more so - to learn from those who are not widely known today, like Larry Tisch (one of the founders of today’s Loews, my portfolio company), T Rowe Price, the founder of the world largest asset manager and a big believer in the value of growth, Paul Cabot (who achieved 500% returns over 17 years at Harvard Endowment Fund).

A relatively new book is What I Learned about Investing from Darwin by Pulak Prasad, the founder of a $5-billion fund based in Singapore. My goal is to read it this summer. It was featured at the Berkshire Hathaway recommended reading.

You can find these and three other books in your account at Hidden Value Gems in the Extras section.
